Nintendo Working on New console?!!

That's right! During a Forbes article about future game development, Iwata mentioned they were already in the very early stages of development!

"We are always preparing for the next hardware," Iwata said. "We are under development. ... But the hardware is a kind of box that consumers reluctantly buy in order to play our games." Well, we wouldn't say reluctantly, because most people seem to be more than happy to pick up a Wii.

In terms of future specs, Iwata commented that every new piece of hardware "needs some revolutionary features." He also added that "This time around, it happened to be we had a revolutionary user interface. Will it be the same for the next generation? I really can't tell." Considering what the company did with the Wii, we're totally expecting bigger and better things from Nintendo.

Wow, Nintendo, way to drop a bombshell! But seriously, do we really need a new console right now? No we don't. So I think it is kind of strange of Iwata to say something like that even though the Wii hasn't even been out for more than two years!

Wario Land: Shake It preview

So 'Wario land: Shake It' is coming in a few months (Europe release: September 26th. American Release September 29th.) but how is it? Well one way to find out is to watch the video above; and the other way is to see what I have to say about Wario Land and from what it's nature is usually like.

Now from what I've played of the Wario Land series, I think Wario Land games could easily be the new Super Mario World games. In Wario Land games, it's not always about sprinting through th level crushing any enemies in your way, most of the time you'll be forced to slow down and take your time to work out some very dastardly puzzles.

One thing that was also present in the Wario series was the different forms Wario could take to get through some of the puzzles. For example there might be an enemy that throws apples at you. Eat enough the apples and you can get fat enough to destroy hard blocks!

It seemed to always feel good when playing as Wario. Especially when you could run very fast and just kept running in a blur destroying lots of enemies in your path. And you'll be able to do that in Wario Land Shake it as the tour above shows.

Wario Land Shake It also features lot's of collectibles which the Wario games are known for. In Wario Land Shake It you must find three treasure chests which contain three strange items.

This has to be the best looking Wario land Game ever. It looks so rich and colorful, and it even has animated cutscenes. And speaking of animations, Wario's animations look both funny and cool!
And to top it all off, there's shaking!

I can't wait for this game, and you should feel the same about it!

Nintendo working on a new Mario game?

That's what it seems like after an interview with the telegraph:

"Making these 'traditional' games is what I am best at. Because games of that nature take upwards of two or three years to make, we always have to keep the teams working on those projects going.

"At any given time, the team could be five to ten people, or it could be 50-plus. People are always switching in and out of those teams.

"They are all working on more Mario, Zelda and Pikmin projects. And they all work in close proximity to me, so I can keep a good eye on them."

It had already been established that Nintendo were working on a new Zelda and Pikmin (see E3 coverage), but he mention Mario projects. 'Projects' are obviously new games, but what type of game?

SUPER HAPPY FUN SPECULATION TIME!

Well a Mario adventure game has already been released on the Wii; And so has a Paper Mario game. Don't forget Mario party 8. But their haven't been any Mario Sports titles on Wii (Mario and sonic doesn't count). Maybe Nintendo are planning Mario tennis, or Mario golf. It would be too soon for a new adventure game in my opinion. Unless they're planning on unleashing a new Mario genre! I hope they don't release another Mario party for Wii (Stop partying for crying out loud!).
BUT! Maybe it's not on Wii. We haven't taken DS into account. It doesn't seem very likely, but their could be a new Mario adventure coming to DS. I personally think New Super Mario Bros wasn't enough. But the way he mention Mario Zelda and Pikmin makes you think he's talking about Wii.

Wow, so much speculation. Well that's 'cause Mario's awesome, OK!

Prince Of Persia: the Fallen King trailer

Yes the new Prince Of Persia game has been revealed in a new trailer! The game seems to look a lot like Phantom Hourglass in terms of stylus control, yet its visual style seems like that of Brawl's (how it's kind of 2d yet 3d).

If you watched the video you would probably have noticed the Wonderful Nintendo ad at the end. That because this youtube profile will serve as the place where all the game videos for this site will be. If you go to the direct video page you'll be able to watch in High Definition!

GTA: Chinatown wars boxart Revealed

Doesn't look great... Well to be honest, it's very bland. But it might not be the finalized product. No other pictures of the game have been released. I think Rockstar are purposely trying o hype this game up enough to make everyone buy it when it comes out. Which makes you wonder; Is this game really going to be as good as the other GTA's? Or is it just going to be another GTA 1 rip-off like on GBA?

E3 comes to an end.

So E3's over. Most people were actually cringing at the thought of Nintendo's conference. I personally thought it was okay, but of course the main highlight for me is Animal Crossing City Folk (American Release date November 16).

Did you happen to miss it? Well take a peak at the videos of the whole thing! Above is part

Zelda Teams come together.

Miyamoto has mentioned that the two Zelda teams for Wii and DS are going to be working on a project together.
"the DS team is mixing in with the Wii team and working on the Wii version." Is exactly what he said. Now there could be much speculation about this news, will it be sequel to Phantom Hourglass or Twilight Princess, or will it be a mixture of both?!!!

I can't even begin to imagine what Nintendo is planning.

(it would be called Twilight Hourglass!)

E3 coverage

Wonderful Nintendo is the place to be for all the E3 coverage!

MUCH more to come!

Pikmin announced softly...

Miyamoto: We're making Pikmin.

That's all he commented on the subject. Hardly anything was revealed (not even any screens), but he subtly announced it in front of 100 or so journalists...

Animal Crossing City Folk announced!

That's right it's Animal Crossing Wii!!! The video above shows so much new Animal Crossing footage!

In Animal Crossing City Folk you can actually visit the town! There's so much new stuff available to do, and even more exciting is (another freaking) new peripheral! It's called the WiiSpeak and It's something you just attach to the sensor bar and the person your talking to can hear everyone that's in the room!
Just watch the video, you wont regret it!

*yes I made a mistake but don't go on about it*

Wii Motion Plus and Wii Sports Resort

That's right it's a new Wii Device that makes the motion sensitivity even more precise! It's called the Wii motion plus and it's bundled with a Wii Sports sequel titled Wii Sports Resort.

The new Wii Sports game will include games like Dog Disc ( Throw a frisbee to your dog), Jet Ski (Jet ski around a course), and Sword Dueling ( battle with swords).

It's all here in this video.

Wii Music at E3

Nintendo showed some interesting features of Wii Music at E3 including a few different instruments, a multiplayer mode and even how the Wii Balance Board will come into play!
It's all in the video above!

GTA: Chinatown wars announced for DS!

This is the most exciting news I've heard all week!

Rockstar have announced a new GTA game for the Nintendo DS titled Grand Theft Auto:Chinatown wars.
"This is a game that will deliver a rich, fast-paced and intense 'Grand Theft Auto' experience that will be truly unique to Nintendo's handheld platform," Rockstar games founder ,Sam Houser said."Rockstar Leeds, along with the team at Rockstar North, has built upon a decade of progressive design on Grand Theft Auto, and has created something fundamentally fresh and immersive."

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars is an entirely original entry into the critically acclaimed Grand Theft Auto series, and brings a new level of interactivity to its sprawling open environments. With the use of the DS touch screen, players will navigate their way through the streets as they uncover the truth behind an epic tale of crime and corruption within the Triad crime syndicate, delivering the unprecedented amount of depth that has become a true trademark of the franchise.

I'm almost speechless. I've mentioned on this blog before about GTA on DS and it seemed so unlikely! E3 is just getting more and more exciting!

Beautiful Japanese Wario Land Trailer

The trailer above is for Wario Land: Shake It and it looks stunning. I am loving the lush cartoony feel and the look of fire and water. Wario's animations even blur when he does them fast.
The Japanese trailer shows some control movements as well. But as you can see from the title of the game- You'll be doing some shaking.

New patent filled by Nintendo

Nintendo has filled a new patent for some kind of vague controller. 'A game operating device (controller) includes a longitudinal housing, and a holding portion held by hand to be wrapped by its palm it is formed in the housing. A direction switch is provided on an upper surface at a position where it can be operated by thumb of the hand holding the holding portion, and a start switch and a select switch are provided backward thereof.' The patent first says. 'An X button 46 and a Y button are further arranged in line on the upper surface of the housing. An imaging information arithmetic unit is provided at a front end of the housing in a longitudinal direction in such a manner that an imaging device thereof is exposed from a front-end surface. A concave portion is formed on a lower surface at a position corresponding to the direction switch. The concave portion includes a valley and two inclined surfaces.'

Hmm, very intriguing. But even more intriguing is the fact that Nintendo signed another patent before that was for a motion sensitive handheld.

Almost like a Gameboy that you have to move around.

What do Nintendo plan to do with these two patents, and when do they plan on revealing this?

Animal Crossing Wii to be at E3?!

The Official Nintendo Magazine website blog section has made a slip of the tongue and then quickly changed the 'mistake'.
'Of course everyone is hoping that Animal Crossing Wii will be there (E3)' Is what the blog now says, but before he wrote: "Animal Crossing Wii will be unveiled at the conference."
He said the wrong thing which gives an answer- Animal Crossing Wii will be unveiled at E3. Why wouldn't it be and why wouldn't he know? It's the official Nintendo magazine.

Nintendo Norway has added Animal Crossing Wii to it's 2008 release list (if the above wasn't already enough).

Mr Bean On Wii?!

That's right Mr Bean's wacky World has been confirmed for Wii!

Not much is known about the title, but apparently it's a 2.5d platform adventure, And it's coming from Blast! entertainment. The game will be released in Europe later this year.

So how will you think this will work? I honestly think it's a bad idea. The Mr Bean franchise is fine where it is, and it doesn't need any games made from it.

More Mods that blow me away.

It's time to once again see the awesome Nintendo mods roaming around the interwebs!

Woah! It's a DS and a gamecube made to look like NES stuff!

A Metroid themed Wii!

It's not really modded but it's still awesome!

That's about it for now. If your interested in mods also see Portable SNES for the Win!

Animal Crossing Stories- Issue one

Saturday 5th of July

Today I was feeling excited and refreshed... Until I saw that obnoxious business man outside my house. He said he could put me in a contest to win a free holiday. I just walked away.
I bumped into my good pal Butch. He was like the fatherly figure in the neighborhood. He always seemed to be yelling at me though; "What the HECK did you want anyway!?"
He said I should clean my house before he arrived to do something about the flea market. Then I remembered that today was the day for the Flea Market! I had never participated in one before but I was confident and willing to learn.

The sun was shining bright it was noticeable that the rainy season had just finished today. I put my umbrella away and hurt a very strange sound coming from all around me. I finally recognized the sound: it was a cicada! I spotted a few on the trees. My net had too much drag when I swung so it would never catch it! In the end of it I did manage to catch one brown cicada and one horned beetle.

I entered Whitney's house for no particular reason and she looked as though she was trying to act like the shopkeeper Nook. She was selling some of her stuff. So this was the flea market and it wasn't too great. She tried to sell me her sofa for 2,000 bells, but she was clearly ripping me off. And everything else reeked of rip-off.
I left.

I went to my house and organized a few things before Butch got there. I wasn't completely done when he arrived with a greedy smile on his face. He asked about everything I had. I managed to sell a corn plant for 800 bells, but there wasn't anything else for sale. He seemed disappointed but he remained in my abode! I almost walked out the front door before he finally decided to leave.

What a day huh? Crappy Flea Market and Cicadas...Yeah... The best.

*Did I mention a few days ago I saw a UFO!!!*

Wii Review- Super Smash Bros. Brawl

It's finally time to review one of the most anticipated games of the year: Super Smash Bros. Brawl!
It certainly took a while to get here but it finally arrived on the 26th of June which is one day before Europe got it!
So does it live up to the hype? Does it please the critics? Well you'll have to read my review to find out!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So everything is as you'd expect for a Smash Bros game. A bunch of Nintendo characters get thrown together and they start fighting. You can choose crazy combinations of matches like Mario Versus Mr Game and Watch. Or Link versus Wario.
The game isn't too revolutionary to the other Smash Bros games, but it improves a lot of their flaws and contains a lot more content. There are so many unlockable characters and levels. There's also the return of trophies, which are figurines of characters and items from any other Nintendo game. Every trophy even has a slab of information behind it! There's also stickers witch act the same way only you can use them as power-ups in the adventure mode. Speaking of the adventure mode, there's an all new one titled the Subspace Emissary! Smash Bros games aren't usually known fr their stories but this Smash bros game goes all the way to delivering a full story adventure mode built on a fighting game engine! The adventure mode lasts almost ten whole hours! But of course you will spend much more time battling it out normally.

But what control options are there? Like Mario Kart Wii there's four control options for you; The Wii Remote on it's side, the Wii Remote and Nunchuck or the Gamecube and Classic Controller. My personal choice is the Wii Remote on it's side, I just think that's what suits this type of game the most.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Super Smash Bros. Brawl is bursting with content. But you can't get the content all at once; you'll have to unlock most of it.
There are 34 characters in all and many levels. Most characters just appear when play enough brawls and then you have to fight them to unlock them, but some require you to play your way through the Subspace emissary.
Levels aren't too hard to unlock either, one Donkey Kong level can be unlocked by playing as Donkey Kong 20 times, but of course you wouldn't know that which is the only reason it might get unlocked right away.

Nintendo has taken precautions for everything; don't have enough controllers? Go to the rotation mode where you just share controllers in a tournament. Have 32 players? Head over to tourney. Everything is catered for in multiplayer. And if you all like the same character you customize the colours endlessly!

Trophies and stickers are easy to find but you can find duplicates too much. To get trophies just participate in the Subspace Emissary where you can pick up ones you find, and stickers appear way to much when your just Brawling. And if that isn't enough to get them, just go into the coin launcher which is like a whole separate arcade game where you shoot your hard earned coins at ships and trophies to get more!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Super Smash Bros online isn't as glorious as I would've expected. When I go into the play with anyone mode it lags like hell. But if I battle my friends it's much better. Brawl is a fast paced game but how come it still works properly with my friends? I think they should've included a feature to battle people in your continent like Mario Kart Wii.
When your with your friends you can customize your taunts to say things like "ROFL" or "LOLZ" or even the more popular "0WnEd!!1!". Matches with friends don't take too long to start but while you wait you can treat yourself to some thrashing of the sandbag!

Something that I thought was interesting was spectator mode. It's where you can watch people online fighting and bet whose going to win. Yes. They finally put gambling into a Smash Bros Game! But that's what I found myself doing because it was completely lag free.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Super Smash Bros. Brawl looks impressive. It's got incredible detail to everything, beautiful levels, explosions and effects. It's Subspace emissary cutscenes only add to impressiveness!

But what really impressed me was the music. From brand new tracks to remixed ones to the original original(!) brawl has got it all beautifully presented.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Super Smash Bros. Brawl will last you years. As long as you have a few friends over every now and then, this game will never get boring for you. Couple that with the bursting content, optional controls, impressive graphics and a long Adventure mode; and you've got one hell of a game!

Welcome back to Teatown?!

I've gotten back into Animal Crossing, and just in time too! The (UK) official Nintendo Magazine has been hinting about Animal Crossing Wii!
In the preview page for the next issue, the magazine commented: "It's been a while," The writer started, "It's time to revisit an old friend. How's your village doing these days?"

That is pretty exciting even though though the magazine comes out after E3 witch is where it would probably get announced anyway!

Since I'm back into Animal Crossing this blog will welcome back an old favourite weekly segment: Animal Crossing Stories! There aren't really any remnants left of that segment here, but it's coming back, and I'm also hoping to post them around MyDS.com.au some how...

And if your wondering why the title mentions Teatown, that's the name of my town... Yeah it's weird isn't it!

The Month That Was (June)

Last Month wasn't packed with posts but I suppose I was too excited for brawl to post much!

Stay tuned for my Brawl review coming soon!

Poll Results 2

This poll was more of a quiz from the last poll.

I just thought of it as I was playing Super Mario Bros 2 on the virtual console.

In Which game did the Shyguy first appear in?

Super Mario Bros
Super Mario Bros 2
Yoshi's island
Yoshi's Story

The correct answer is Super Mario Bros 2. The American Version that is.
Allow me to explain,
Nintendo created Super Mario Bros. 2 in Japan and saw that it was incredibly difficult, probably too difficult for America. So when Nintendo found a perfect game that edit a little bit and use, the used that. And that game was called Doki Doki panic!
All Nintendo did to change the game to suit being called Mario bros 2 was put in the characters, Mario Luigi Peach and Toad. They titled the game Super Mario Bros 2 and were done with it.

But many people found out that the real Super Mario Bros. 2 was only available in Japan.

This is the original Super Mario Bros. 2

This is the Doki Doki Panic version

It's obviously not the Super Mario Bros you remembered.

But if Nintendo hadn't used Doki Doki Panic to create Super Mario Bros.2, then there would be no character such as the Shyguy. Because Doki Doki Panic was the only game to have a Shyguy until Super Mario Bros 2 came along.

When Super Mario All Stars came out on the Super Nintendo, there was a problem. There had to be a compilation of past Super Mario Bros games but there was clearly two Super Mario Bros. 2's.
So Nintendo named Doki Doki Panic Super Mario USA, and Super Mario Bros 2. the Lost Levels. This also confused a lot of people.

I see most of you got this poll right, with 66% of you locking in the correct answer and the other 34% of you getting it wrong.

I still love Super Mario Bros. 2, even if it isn't the real version!
