What Happened???!
No posts since the DSi one.
Well I'm hoping to turn that around. I've been playing a lot of Spore and Ocarina of time lately so that gets in the way. And I'm not too motivated about posting. I always wanted to do reviews on youtube and it looks like a might be able to do a spore review...
I'm getting Littlebigplanet soon, so...
Hopefully this wont happen again!

DSi Revealed

Nintendo just announced the Nintendo DSi at its fall presentation. While more details on the device come in by the minute, the Nintendo DSi is described by Nintendo as a "third platform". Another third pillar for Nintendo, meaning the DSi will be a complement to the existing Nintendo DS (Lite) instead of a replacement.
The Nintendo DSi is visually almost equaly to the Nintendo DS Lite, apart from a size decrease of 12 percent. This gain in portability is achieved by removing the GBA slot from the device. To compensate, the Nintendo DSi owns two 3.25 inch screens (compared to the original 3 inches) and two cameras.
More details on the DSi have arrived. Apparently, the DSi will feature an SD slot to store pictures (taken by your trusty included camera) on. Using the SD card it's possible to view your pictures on Wii. Next up is an included browser. The DSi features a built-in browser which can be used to, buckle up, download games from the DSi Shop. DSiWare games will be available for the wellknown points-system carrying a pricetage of "zilch", 200 points, 500 points and 800 points ("Premium titles"). New customers will get 1000 points for free to spend at the DSi Shop. The DSi will be released on November 1st in Japan and 2009 for the rest of the world
Games due out around launch: Valk Profile DS, Kirby (most likely SSU), Kyotaro, Rockman (most likely MMSF3), World Food, Phantasy Star Zero, Momotaro Dentetsu
Wow, incredible enough though, is the intriguing DSiware. This seems to be a virtual console for DS!
Maybe they'll use this release classic gameboy games! That's what I would get it for considering I've already got a camera.
Also announced at the conference:
- Nintendo will re-release Cube classics in a new ‘Enjoy with Wii selection’ lineup (YAY)
- Another Code for Wii
- Sin and Punishment 2 for Wii
- Punch-Out!! Wii confirmed

NEW DS???!!!?!1!

There have been plenty of rumors though. but that's just it: RUMORS.
According to the article, the new hardware will include a camera and music playback functionality. The camera will be integrated into gameplay, which suggests that it may be more of a new system than an upgrade. It also features the ability to connect with "information terminals" to get location-sensitive information, which we know Nintendo has looked into. There's even more in the print version of the same article. It states that the device will cost less than 20,000 yen.
Nintendo have commented on this.
“The Nikkei newspaper wrote a recent story about a DS solely based upon their own research and speculation, without interviewing Nintendo. While Nintendo is always working on new hardware, we have not made any announcement about a DS and we cannot comment on the Nikkei story.”
They can neither confirm nor deny these claims, but it also seems like the new DS screens have been leaked (above).
I don't know what's going on but Nintendo is being pretty tight lipped about it all which of course arouses suspicion.

Bob's Game
A man named Bob is on a mission to create the one of the biggest and most elaborate game ever created by one person! And the DS game is making is titled 'Bob's Game'.
He's been told before that it's impossible fr one person to create a full retail game but that doesn't deter him one bit.
The trailer above mentions himself as 'A man who locked himself in a bedroom for five year to make an awesome game' because he's in the game!
Here's his website:

GTA Chinatown Wars Screens!

"Due to hardware limitations, these details say the game will have an isometric camera angle and be a cel-shaded affair, complete with no load times. There will be dynamic weather effects and it's reported that draw distance and frame rate are sound. Liberty City will be scaled down quite a bit, though (and changed some), but there will be pedestrians and cars about, doing their thing. Oh, and there will be radio stations, although songs are going to be focused more on instrumental numbers."
As for controls, there will be an auto-targeting system that the player can utilize with the R trigger. They can also use the d-pad to aim and bust caps that way. There's also going to be "subtle" auto-steering for when you're in a car and players can use the touch-screen to navigate the in-game PDA, which will allow you to "email, contacts, the map, a music player, GPS, and stat-tracking (which allows you to upload stats direct from the game to Rockstar's Social Club website)."
And that's all that's been said at the moment. But from the look of these screens, I'm impressed!
What do you think?

Animal Crossing Rename disgraces Australia

Nintendo had renamed Animal Crossing City Folk for us Australian audiences to a name that almost put me of wanting to buy the game: Animal Crossing: Let's go to the City.
Does Nintendo think that city folk is a bad word here in Australia? Or do they just think that everyone who buys the game here will either be six years old, or incapable of doing anything without the word 'Let's' in front of it.
Australia has had to deal with name changes before (Donkey Kong Jet Race, Flash Focus and so on), but this is the first time where I actually don't like the Australian name!
So what do you think? Do you like or the name, or loathe the name?

Lostwinds Review

As you progress you soon discover that Enril the wind spirit use wind to do all sorts of things like lifting Toku up high into the air, controlling fire, or even smashing enemies into the ground! Speaking of enemies there aren't too many in this game, as they will only serve a minor annoyance when tackling puzzles.
This game is all about puzzles and is designed incredibly well in that department. But in one department it's lacking in would have to be length. Since this game is only $15, you'd think there'd have to be a setback and that's where the setback is. I beat the game in 3 hours and I wasn't rushing.
But in order to mask the shortness of the game and make it slightly longer, every time you beat a level you would have to run all the way back into the village to speak to someone and then run all the way to back to enter a level. This isn't unnoticeable.

To jump all you have to do is hold A and it will slow down time and let you draw a wind line to guide Toku up.
The action button is Z which is just odd for me.

Overall this is a great little gem that is definitely worth the 1000 points. So what are you waiting for? GO GET IT!

Why it's been slow

Well as you've probably guessed, it's been slow around here lately, but the honest reason for that is lack of gaming news, updates and releases. Another reason could be that I have purchased the Wiiware game 'Lostwinds'.
I have beaten the game very quickly and will be bringing you a review very soon as well as a surprise DS game that is surprisingly similar.
But you've probably also noticed the lack of AC weekly stories coming. Hopefully I can get back into the groove of things with that.
But on top of that, Blogger has had some changes which I might take advantage of for the blog.
So please stay tuned and you will hopefully see more posts next month.

Still Playing? (Smash Bros edition)

So what are you guys still playing? Wait that's a silly question; it has to be Brawl, right?
Well I can see why you would be. the Smash Bros franchise always showed so much playability to be had. Since every game in the franchise contains just about anything Nintendo, this is especially present in Super Smash Bros: Brawl. Brawl steps it up in every single way to better it's predecessors. Not only in gameplay and presentation, but in content. From Trophies to stickers, it delivers.
But what about in the way you unlock these unlockables? Well stickers are very easy to gather but that's probably because their just pictures. Trophies aren't quite as easy. They don't just appear in a stage like a sticker. They must be earned. The best way to earn them is obviously the coin launcher, but you can also earn them in the Subspace Emissary, All Star Mode and Classic mode.
I almost have 400 stickers and 300 trophies. I browse through the trophies every now and then, but you'll have to do a lot of reading if you want to know everything about them.
But of course before you do any of that you should really unlock all the playable characters and stages. There are more than 30 characters and 40 stages.
I seriously doubt you would get bored of this game right now!

Sony Compliments Nintendo

It might not be much, but it's enough to show Sony's appreciation for helping sales increase for all game developers. Now all we need is for Microsoft to say the same!
It’s a great success story. They’re (Nintendo) focused on easy to pick up games. With great game play. At one point, Nintendo decided in the last generation that they wanted mature audiences on the GameCube. That made it crowded. With the Wii, they then made the decision to focus on what they do best. That really helped separate the focus of the three platforms in this generation. (Nintendo’s success)…is helping the growth of this industry. I think Nintendo did well for themselves and they are bringing in new gamers to the industry for all of us.

Nintendo Working on New console?!!

"We are always preparing for the next hardware," Iwata said. "We are under development. ... But the hardware is a kind of box that consumers reluctantly buy in order to play our games." Well, we wouldn't say reluctantly, because most people seem to be more than happy to pick up a Wii.
In terms of future specs, Iwata commented that every new piece of hardware "needs some revolutionary features." He also added that "This time around, it happened to be we had a revolutionary user interface. Will it be the same for the next generation? I really can't tell." Considering what the company did with the Wii, we're totally expecting bigger and better things from Nintendo.
Wow, Nintendo, way to drop a bombshell! But seriously, do we really need a new console right now? No we don't. So I think it is kind of strange of Iwata to say something like that even though the Wii hasn't even been out for more than two years!

Wario Land: Shake It preview
So 'Wario land: Shake It' is coming in a few months (Europe release: September 26th. American Release September 29th.) but how is it? Well one way to find out is to watch the video above; and the other way is to see what I have to say about Wario Land and from what it's nature is usually like.
Now from what I've played of the Wario Land series, I think Wario Land games could easily be the new Super Mario World games. In Wario Land games, it's not always about sprinting through th level crushing any enemies in your way, most of the time you'll be forced to slow down and take your time to work out some very dastardly puzzles.

One thing that was also present in the Wario series was the different forms Wario could take to get through some of the puzzles. For example there might be an enemy that throws apples at you. Eat enough the apples and you can get fat enough to destroy hard blocks!
It seemed to always feel good when playing as Wario. Especially when you could run very fast and just kept running in a blur destroying lots of enemies in your path. And you'll be able to do that in Wario Land Shake it as the tour above shows.
Wario Land Shake It also features lot's of collectibles which the Wario games are known for. In Wario Land Shake It you must find three treasure chests which contain three strange items.
This has to be the best looking Wario land Game ever. It looks so rich and colorful, and it even has animated cutscenes. And speaking of animations, Wario's animations look both funny and cool!
And to top it all off, there's shaking!
I can't wait for this game, and you should feel the same about it!

Nintendo working on a new Mario game?

"Making these 'traditional' games is what I am best at. Because games of that nature take upwards of two or three years to make, we always have to keep the teams working on those projects going.
"At any given time, the team could be five to ten people, or it could be 50-plus. People are always switching in and out of those teams.
"They are all working on more Mario, Zelda and Pikmin projects. And they all work in close proximity to me, so I can keep a good eye on them."
It had already been established that Nintendo were working on a new Zelda and Pikmin (see E3 coverage), but he mention Mario projects. 'Projects' are obviously new games, but what type of game?
SUPER HAPPY FUN SPECULATION TIME!
Well a Mario adventure game has already been released on the Wii; And so has a Paper Mario game. Don't forget Mario party 8. But their haven't been any Mario Sports titles on Wii (Mario and sonic doesn't count). Maybe Nintendo are planning Mario tennis, or Mario golf. It would be too soon for a new adventure game in my opinion. Unless they're planning on unleashing a new Mario genre! I hope they don't release another Mario party for Wii (Stop partying for crying out loud!).
BUT! Maybe it's not on Wii. We haven't taken DS into account. It doesn't seem very likely, but their could be a new Mario adventure coming to DS. I personally think New Super Mario Bros wasn't enough. But the way he mention Mario Zelda and Pikmin makes you think he's talking about Wii.
Wow, so much speculation. Well that's 'cause Mario's awesome, OK!

Prince Of Persia: the Fallen King trailer
Yes the new Prince Of Persia game has been revealed in a new trailer! The game seems to look a lot like Phantom Hourglass in terms of stylus control, yet its visual style seems like that of Brawl's (how it's kind of 2d yet 3d).
If you watched the video you would probably have noticed the Wonderful Nintendo ad at the end. That because this youtube profile will serve as the place where all the game videos for this site will be. If you go to the direct video page you'll be able to watch in High Definition!

E3 comes to an end.
So E3's over. Most people were actually cringing at the thought of Nintendo's conference. I personally thought it was okay, but of course the main highlight for me is Animal Crossing City Folk (American Release date November 16).

Zelda Teams come together.

"the DS team is mixing in with the Wii team and working on the Wii version." Is exactly what he said. Now there could be much speculation about this news, will it be sequel to Phantom Hourglass or Twilight Princess, or will it be a mixture of both?!!!
I can't even begin to imagine what Nintendo is planning.
(it would be called Twilight Hourglass!)
E3 coverage
- Pikmin announced softly...
- Animal Crossing Town Folk announced!
- Wii Motion Plus and Wii Sports Resort
- Wii Music at E3
- GTA: Chinatown wars announced for DS!
- E3 speculation.
MUCH more to come!
Pikmin announced softly...
That's all he commented on the subject. Hardly anything was revealed (not even any screens), but he subtly announced it in front of 100 or so journalists...

Animal Crossing City Folk announced!
That's right it's Animal Crossing Wii!!! The video above shows so much new Animal Crossing footage!
In Animal Crossing City Folk you can actually visit the town! There's so much new stuff available to do, and even more exciting is (another freaking) new peripheral! It's called the WiiSpeak and It's something you just attach to the sensor bar and the person your talking to can hear everyone that's in the room!
Just watch the video, you wont regret it!
*yes I made a mistake but don't go on about it*
Wii Motion Plus and Wii Sports Resort

It's all here in this video.
Wii Music at E3
Nintendo showed some interesting features of Wii Music at E3 including a few different instruments, a multiplayer mode and even how the Wii Balance Board will come into play!

GTA: Chinatown wars announced for DS!

Rockstar have announced a new GTA game for the Nintendo DS titled Grand Theft Auto:Chinatown wars.
"This is a game that will deliver a rich, fast-paced and intense 'Grand Theft Auto' experience that will be truly unique to Nintendo's handheld platform," Rockstar games founder ,Sam Houser said."Rockstar Leeds, along with the team at Rockstar North, has built upon a decade of progressive design on Grand Theft Auto, and has created something fundamentally fresh and immersive."
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars is an entirely original entry into the critically acclaimed Grand Theft Auto series, and brings a new level of interactivity to its sprawling open environments. With the use of the DS touch screen, players will navigate their way through the streets as they uncover the truth behind an epic tale of crime and corruption within the Triad crime syndicate, delivering the unprecedented amount of depth that has become a true trademark of the franchise.
I'm almost speechless. I've mentioned on this blog before about GTA on DS and it seemed so unlikely! E3 is just getting more and more exciting!

Beautiful Japanese Wario Land Trailer
The trailer above is for Wario Land: Shake It and it looks stunning. I am loving the lush cartoony feel and the look of fire and water. Wario's animations even blur when he does them fast.
The Japanese trailer shows some control movements as well. But as you can see from the title of the game- You'll be doing some shaking.
New patent filled by Nintendo

Hmm, very intriguing. But even more intriguing is the fact that Nintendo signed another patent before that was for a motion sensitive handheld.

What do Nintendo plan to do with these two patents, and when do they plan on revealing this?
Motion sensitive patent
Other Patent
Animal Crossing Wii to be at E3?!

'Of course everyone is hoping that Animal Crossing Wii will be there (E3)' Is what the blog now says, but before he wrote: "Animal Crossing Wii will be unveiled at the conference."
He said the wrong thing which gives an answer- Animal Crossing Wii will be unveiled at E3. Why wouldn't it be and why wouldn't he know? It's the official Nintendo magazine.
Nintendo Norway has added Animal Crossing Wii to it's 2008 release list (if the above wasn't already enough).

Mr Bean On Wii?!

Not much is known about the title, but apparently it's a 2.5d platform adventure, And it's coming from Blast! entertainment. The game will be released in Europe later this year.
So how will you think this will work? I honestly think it's a bad idea. The Mr Bean franchise is fine where it is, and it doesn't need any games made from it.
